Just like wedding, portrait, corporate and nature photography, I also love to document real time events supported with rich and unique stories.
One of our Creative Director at work came across this documentary type photography concept from the New York Times, "One of 8 Million" and inspired me like no other. I've always wanted do documentary photography integrating video and music, but I just couldn't put my finger on it on how to do it.
For two weeks I was itching into getting anything and anybody started for me to see if this is something that I can work on as a set of series. This is my first try of many and I hope that you guys enjoy it and stay tuned on the ones I work on.
I just wanted to blog about this new show called, "Character Project" on USA Network. It's a really cool show about 11 portrait photographers with unique styles. I really appreciate and admire them for creating such amazing photographs and being on the top of their careers as creative individuals seeking to help and document lives. www.http://www.usanetwork.com/characterproject/
Had another engagement session this past weekend. Though it became a little chilly in the sunny side of San Jose, it was perfect. The overcast clouds helped me shoot with even lighting and some cool clouds.
Another fun couple who seems a bit nervous on what to do, but they managed as they became comfortable behind the camera. Next is their wedding in September.
Each year I attend the Assumption Catholic School Festival and donate the photos that I take to the school. Here are some that aesthetically came out a bit cooler than most.
Here we have are the 3 partners of the Galileo Planning Group that I covered for their website shoot and corporate photo assets. A wealth management firm that deals only with clients who are worth 10 million dollars or higher. You can find more about them by reading about their services on their website: www.galileoplanningroup.com. A site that I had also designed through Solutionset.com.
About 3 or so years ago, I did a small gig for this DJ crew in San Jose, Ca. It was one of those experiences that I hoped for the photos to come out well because of all of the uneven lighting situations. But even though those were in the back of my mind up until I got home to work on the photos, I had a great time. It was an overall experience not just from shooting around but the environment and being surrounded by thousands of records around you. I had never seen this many records in my life.
Another late post. For this one, I was hired by the family during one of their rare family gathering that had everyone under one roof. I had a blast because they were so laid back. Even the grandparents had the patience of having their photos taken one after the other.
Didn't you know that Bingo Night is the place to be?
I am really happy that I was able to take photos of such wonderful people whom lived long lives and continuing to enjoy it with their friends playing games and having a few laughs.
Did some Corporate work last week which took me about 4 days to shoot. That was an awesome work out for my legs going up and down the stairs, all over the office and outside. Shot some 100+ people for their more formal with white background and more personal with their chosen environment {exs. below.} It was great meeting new people and I can put faces to those names which often times I forget.
Something I've dabbed into is incorporating more of my graphic design background into photography, which depends on the concept of course. So here are my first few.
A late post but better than never. This was one of my first weddings and I thought it should see the light once again. I had a great time with these two couples now husband and wife. We went to the beautiful San Francisco. Lets just I was really excited and scared for having it be one of my first weddings, but I felt really good for getting some good shots. It's a combination of the subjects, location and fun. I had a lot of fun and they did too. Just look at the photos. This is why, hmmmm... that I got into the wedding business. It's fun meeting different people and then all of a sudden you are invited to their wedding. Ain't that funny if you think about it...haha! For many weddings, only important family, friends and pets are invite, but yet me, Gerard who rarely knows the couple is invited too....haha...OK, it's not that funny.
Vicky and Vince were married on 7.7.7. I know it's one of those super duper late posts but I think I should share this one as well. These two couples were so much fun to do an engagement shooting pretty much for an entire day. They both had their specific locations that they wanted document all around SF Bay Area. It was kinda cool as I witnessed the different locations when they had their first kiss, hug, held hands, and even their first ice cream together.
I am finally finding a little bit more time from the business of the holiday chaos to update my blog.
This is another wonderful family that I had a chance to work with in Los Gatos, Ca. This is the Espitia Family. Very fun, generous and welcoming. Again, they had put the stamp to why I really enjoying working on family portraits. Seeing the joy each individual contributes to one big lumpsome of happiness. Thanks for letting me cover your beautiful sunny California day with your entire family :D!
Here is a set of head shots of Alyssa who needed a few fun and timeless head shots for archiving. The photo was taken at our dear old San Leandro Marina, Ca.
Quan and Theresa came to me to document their pregnant photos to show their future daughter what she looked like before she came to see the light. I wish you two the best of luck raising a precious baby girl.
Korin came to me to get a few head shots for her portfolio and for the Miss Teen Filipina Beauty Pageant. Later on that week, I became one of the photographers to document the event.
Christmas is the time to gather family and to show that you care. Christmas is the time to be thankful for the happiness for each year. Christmas is the time when Jesus was born and to celebrate a new born's 1st Christmas with him? There is no better day. I am very humbled to be the first photographer to shoot the Trans and Dillon's first set of photos.
